Learning foreign languages and other subjects in self-study

Online Tutoring

Without a tutor, you may easily become demotivated or stuck in your language study. On the other hand, tutors, particularly native speakers, are hard to find. A lot of people confuse tutoring / teaching a language with being penpals. While a foreign penpal can help you to broaden your vocabulary and improve your expression once you're at an advanced intermediate stage, he can't actually develop lessons, teach you his language or answer questions about its grammar. So this shall be a place to find serious tutors with a background in teaching only.

What is sufficient background? Does one have to have a degree in teaching? Shouldn't several years of practical experience weigh the same? How to prove people really have the experience or degree they claim? In order to avoid this kind of problems, I have thought of an easy way of identifying good teachers: having them contribute at least one sample lesson as they might teach a student. This is also good advertisement for them, since students will look at the lessons available here and see whether the teaching style suits them and whether they are able to learn from this lesson. A list of tutors will become available here shortly.

If you are a tutor and you'd like to be listed here, please send me any details you want listed here along with a sample lesson of the subject you propose to teach.
