Greeks and Persians - arch enemies
(Even after the Persians' defeat at the beginning of the 5th century BC,
Greeks and Persians remained enemies:)
Postea Graeci multos annos cum Persis pugnabant; semper insidias
adversariorum timebant. Nonnulla saecula Persae et Graeci adversarii
erant. Nam Persae iterum atque iterum Graeciam et alias terras Europae
temptabant, quamquam Graeci adversarios suos multis pugnis superabant
et fugabant. Nonnumquam Graeci cogitabant: "Quando Persae victi et
fessi erunt? Quando agros nostros quieti curabimus?" Sed Persae Asiam
multos annos obtinebant, in oppidis Asiae, ubi multi Graeci habitabant,
diu domini erant.
